pH readings and how they reflect your mineral levels:
pH reading is an indirect measure of body mineral levels. This is because the minerals are attached to alkalizing compounds.
If you have enough alkalizing mineral compounds to buffer your acid load you will have the ideal first morning urine pH reading of 6.5 - 7.5. If your score is lower than 6.5 you might need additional minerals either from your diet or supplementation.
The first-morning urine pH taken upon rising and before eating is an especially good indicator of magnesium, potassium, and calcium status, the minerals that most highly contribute to the buffing buffering of metabolic acids.
Need to know how to test your pH? Read our article on How to Test Your pH.
We now have 2 different ways to test your pH:
-
Our pH hydrion paper is a great way to test each morning to see if your diet is acid or alkaline. Our pH papers come rolled in one long continuous strip that you tear off each morning and dip into your urine to determine your acid-alkaline balance. The color indications are in small 0.2 intervals. If used as recommended each roll will last between 2 to 3 months.
-
Our new individual pH strips are conveniently packed in flip-top vials. These premium quality plastic pH strips offer excellent color separation in both the acid range (below pH 7) and the alkali range (above pH 7). They offer an easy-to-read, single color match at every 0.2 to 0.3 interval from pH 5.5-8.0. Each vial contains 100 strips.
