Benefits

Why should you take this course?

Once you have determined that your bone loss is likely to be excessive, or if you have experienced a low-trauma osteoporotic fracture, then the next step is to seek the causes of this unusual bone weakening by obtaining a medical workup for osteoporosis.

We know talking to your doctor can feel discouraging at times, and it can feel like you're jumping through hoops to obtain medical tests. This online course will help you learn the basics of each medical test, why an osteoporosis diagnosis would warrant obtaining each test, and what the test results mean so that you can feel better equipped to discuss your personal situation with your doctor.

Why did we create this course?

All osteoporosis has a cause.

There are a number of medical problems that can cause, or contribute to, bone loss. To better understand any undetected causes of bone loss, it is important to obtain a medical workup for osteoporosis.

Whenever a client comes to me and tells me that their doctor has told them they should take osteoporosis drugs, I always make the following comment,

“If the problem is serious enough to warrant the use of strong bone drugs, then it is serious enough to warrant an investigation into the possible causes of this supposed bone weakening.”

Many times, we find there is no real excessive bone weakening, rather just normal bone loss. Nonetheless, the suggestion, and often demand, that a woman use bone drugs offers a good opportunity for you to ask the physician to conduct a standard medical work-up searching for the causes of bone loss. After taking this online course, you'll feel better equipped to discuss these tests with your doctor.
